What is an IntraOral Picture?
Intraoral cameras are advanced diagnostic tools that provide clear, detailed images of the teeth and mouth that a mirror examination is not able to achieve. IntraOral pictures have been used since the early 1990s, and can now be found in up to half of all dental offices due to their many benefits.
In addition to ensuring a proper diagnosis, intraoral pictures can help a patient better understand a diagnosis and further recognize the benefits of any recommended treatment. Intraoral camera images allow dentists to view teeth at magnified levels, and keep a permanent record of the teeth for comparison over time, and before and after treatment. These photos can also help speed up the insurance-claim process by showing clear-cut evidence of dental conditions.
